Types of User Roles - Shipper

In Cargobase, each shipper user is assigned a role that defines their access and capabilities. Roles reflect the user’s business function and can be fully customized to align with your company’s standards and needs.

User Role Permissions Overview

The following table outlines each Shipper's permission by module, detailing the name and its specific access level or function.

Quoting

Permission Name Effect
Create Quick Request
  • User can create and view quick requests they have created.
View Quick Request
  • User can view other quick requests within the same payment location but cannot create new ones unless “Create Quick Request” is enabled.
Create/Edit Own Quote Request

  • User can create quote requests and edit only those they have created. Includes permission to post comments.
View Quote Request
  • User can only view quote requests within the same payment location but cannot create or edit them.
Edit Other Quote Requests
  • User can edit quote requests created by other users in the same payment location.
Restricted to Address Book
  • User can view and select from the address book but cannot create new entries.
Allow Address Book Entry
  • User can manually add new address book entries in quick or quote requests.

Booking

Permission Name Effect
View Quote Pricing

  • When disabled, users cannot see total quote amounts, cost details, approval logs, or audit trail cost information.
Can Book (or Request) Shipment
  • User can book a quote request and convert it into a shipment.
Can Be Approver

  • User can be assigned to approval levels and access the Approval Requests menu.
Can Suggest Approval
  • User can suggest additional approvers in the approval process.

Tracking

Permission Name Effect
View Shipments / Edit Own Shipments
  • User can view all shipments but only edit their own.
Edit Other Shipments
  • User can edit shipments created by other users.
View Shipment Pricing
  • When disabled, users cannot see total quote amounts in shipment details.

Invoicing

Permission Name Effect
View Invoices
  • User can view invoices submitted by providers for shipments they have access to.
Audit Invoices (Self-Service)
  • User can approve or decline provider-submitted invoices.

Reporting

  • User can access the Analytics page, generate, and download reports.

Admin Settings

View Company Settings
  • Allows viewing company details (no edit access).
View Users
  • Allows viewing the team member list (no edit access).
Edit Users
  • Allows adding or editing users (requires “View Users” enabled).
View User Roles
  • Allows viewing the user role list (no edit access).
Edit User Roles

  • Allows creating or editing user roles (requires “View User Roles” enabled). Admins cannot edit their own roles; only Cargobase staff can make these changes.
View Approval Levels
  • Allows viewing approval level list (no edit access).
Edit Approval Levels
  • Allows editing approval levels (requires “View Approval Levels” enabled).
View Shipper Locations
  • Allows viewing payment location list (no edit access).
View Providers
  • Allows viewing provider list (no edit access).
Edit Providers
  • Allows adding or editing providers (requires “View Providers” enabled).
View Invoice Attachment Buckets
  • Allows viewing invoice attachment bucket list (no edit access).
View Parcel Accounts
  • Allows viewing parcel account list (no edit access).
Display Audit Trail
  • Allows viewing the Audit Trail within Admin Settings.
View Rate Card
  • Allows viewing rate card list (no edit access).
File Import Tool
  • Allows users to upload data in bulk into a system by using structured files — using EXCEL.

Please note that any changes to Admin roles can only be amended by Cargobase Support.

 

 Example of Default Roles for Shipper Users:

  • Admin: Full access to view and edit company, user, and role settings.

  • Logistics User: Can create quote requests, book quotes, manage shipments, and view invoices.

  • Non-Logistics User: Can create quick requests, with no ability to decide a freight mode and providers.
  • Approver: Ability to view requests and approve quotations.
